Lampard’s final game as Everton boss was a 2-0 defeat away at West Ham on Saturday
‘I’ve said it before, Everton are the worst run club in the country’, he said.’I don’t say that as an ex-Liverpool player, I say that as an ex-Everton fan. Why does every Everton manager fail?
‘You’ve had a young up-and-coming English manager, a Champions League winner in Rafa Benitez, Marco Silva. But there’s a big divide between (Farhad) Moshiri and Bill Kenwright. What is the role of Kenwright in the football club?
‘Everton’s board put out a statement before the Southampton game saying there had been threats, that’s bang out of order, but the board should have been at the game. The statement they put out was bang out of order. It demonised the whole fanbase.
‘You don’t do that, especially in the city where we’re from, in Liverpool you back your own, whether its your family or your football club. Those supporters kept them up last year.Until the board changes, I don’t see the fans getting back on side. They haven’t got a clue what direction they’re going in.’

Lampard is the fourth Everton boss to have left the club without success in the last four years
Gary Neville meanwhile, echoed Carragher’s views and slammed the board for allowing ‘years of failure’ at the club, despite the money invested in the squad.
He pointed out the size of the club in comparison to other Premier League sides, insisting that they should be nowhere near the trouble they find themselves in.
He said: ‘I look at Everton, even two or three years ago, they were clearing out the sorts science department. They were blaming the soldiers rather than the generals.
‘I say they’re a team to watch every year, you always think they’re going to get it right with the money they’ve spent. If you have seven, eight, nine years of failure you’ve got to stop looking on the football pitch and start looking above them.
‘Everton are the equal of Chelsea and city in terms of scale and size.’

Carragher did however admit that it was right for Lampard to leave his role.He bemoaned the impact of the new signings under his leadership, but insisted he does need to take the blame.
‘I do feel it is the right decision’, he began. ‘I think Frank got the job in the back of Rafa Benitez having a similar run, with them bottom of the league bar Southampton, I don’t think Frank can have too many complaints.

‘He hasn’t spent a lot of money. They lost Richarlison who was their best player last season. When you look at the attacking players he’s bought in Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek, they weren’t really a success.
He brought in McNeil and Maupay, they’ve not done anything.
‘The defensive signings have been ok but the attackers haven’t done anywhere near enough.

Former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa isEverton’s number one choice to replace Lampard
Looking forward to who the next Toffees manager could be, Neville questioned whether the board have it in them to select the next candidate.
He said: ‘They were asked not to go to the game, if that’s happened there is a line there.I don’t think it demonised the fans. People understand how passionate the Everton fans are. I think the problem is the lack of results.
‘They have to get it right because it’s a massive football club. Newcastle fans are buzzing now because they’ve got great footballers again. Moshiri has to either get it right on the pitch or leave the club. They’re struggling badly in terms of how to run a football club.
‘They’ve moved back and forward between different styles. They’ve been all over the place in terms of their footballing identity. We’re all pretty clear in how they should play.It should be high energy, high intensity, that feels like how Everton should be playing.
‘How can you have and Dyche?A lot of clubs that are run well pick an identity, pick a group of players and then pick a coach that fits that. Everton have moved from one end of the spectrum to the other. Some of the players have been a shambles, some of the mistakes they’ve made.’
